Sylvie Hampton
Sylvie was a Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist Nurse for Eastbourne Hospital Trust for 41/2 years where most of the background experience and education was gained in tissue viability. Now an independent Tissue Viability Consultant with an expertise in wound healing and wound prevention.
For seven years, Sylvie was secretary and treasurer for the Wound Care Society.
Ten years ago, Sylvie became an independent practitioner in partnership with Fiona Collins. Together they offer services in research, wound care, seating advice, audit and clinical advice for hospitals and nursing homes and act as expert witnesses. Sylvie acts as a consultant for a large Trust in London and also works on an international basis, travelling the world in her role as consultant.
As an expert witness, Sylvie reviews interesting cases for the courts and the Nursing and Midwifery Council and this has provided her with information and education in accountability and documentation. Sylvie is also an invited lecturer and speaker for universities, study days and conferences.
Sylvie is educated to Masters level and is author of two tissue viability books, 'Tissue Viability: A comprehensive guide', and 'A-Z Dictionary of Wound Care and Major Tissue Viability: A Comprehensive Guide'. She is also author of several book chapters and over 250 publications in tissue viability.
Sylvie's company (TVCS Ltd) now boasts the first nurse led private Complex Wound Healing Centre in the country.
